Portable Clean Booth Project
This portable clean booth project was designed for a precision assembly and inspection facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The client needed several movable local clean work areas inside an existing factory for component inspection, small-part assembly, electronics support work, material staging, repair operation, and temporary clean workstation use.
STJh Cleanroom provided a complete portable clean booth solution including aluminum frame structures, transparent PVC softwall curtains, top-mounted FFU units, HEPA filtration, LED lighting, caster wheel bases, stainless steel worktables, inspection lamps, microscope stations, wire shelving carts, storage bins, and material transfer trolleys.
The project includes multiple portable clean booths arranged in rows inside the factory. Each booth can function as an independent clean workstation, while the overall layout supports flexible production adjustment. Compared with a fixed hardwall cleanroom, this solution is easier to move, adjust, expand, and maintain.

Project Background
The client operated a precision manufacturing facility with several workstations distributed across the production floor. Some processes required a cleaner local environment, but these clean work areas did not need to remain permanently fixed in one position.
The client wanted a flexible clean booth system that could support changing production layouts, temporary clean operations, inspection work, small-batch assembly, and material handling. A traditional hardwall cleanroom would have limited flexibility and required more construction work, so a portable clean booth system was selected.
STJh Cleanroom designed multiple portable clean booths with caster wheels, transparent softwall curtains, top-mounted FFU units, and compact internal workstations. The booths were arranged in rows so the client could use them as independent clean workstations or reposition them according to future production changes.
Client Pain Points
Clean areas needed flexibility: The client needed local clean workstations that could be moved or rearranged when production changed.
Full cleanroom construction was not required: Only specific operations needed cleaner air control, not the entire factory.
Several processes needed separate booths: Inspection, repair, assembly, and material staging required independent clean work areas.
Factory circulation had to remain open: Operators, carts, racks, and materials needed enough space around each booth.
Workstations needed better organization: Benches, trays, bins, tools, lamps, and small instruments needed a clear and practical layout.
Installation impact had to be low: The client wanted a solution that could be installed inside the existing factory with limited disruption.
Portable Clean Booth Solution
STJh Cleanroom provided a multi-booth portable clean booth system based on the client’s factory layout, clean process requirements, workstation quantity, and material flow. The booths were designed as movable clean work units with independent clean air supply and internal workstation configuration.
Each booth uses an aluminum frame structure with transparent PVC softwall curtains. The transparent enclosure separates the local clean area from the surrounding factory while keeping the internal process visible. The softwall design also allows convenient access for operators, tools, and material carts.
Top-mounted FFU units with HEPA filters provide filtered air into each booth. LED lights create a bright working environment, while caster wheels allow the booth to be repositioned when the production layout changes. Stainless steel tables, wire racks, blue bins, black trays, and inspection lamps were arranged according to actual operation needs.
Key Clean Booth Systems
1. Portable Aluminum Frame Structure
The clean booths use lightweight aluminum profile frames. The structure is strong enough to support FFU units, lighting, curtains, and internal workstations while remaining suitable for portable use inside the factory.
Aluminum profile frame construction
Stable support for FFU units and LED lighting
Modular structure for different booth sizes
Suitable for movable local clean workstations
2. Caster Wheel Mobility System
Each booth was designed with caster wheels or a mobile base so it can be moved within the factory when needed. This makes the clean booth suitable for temporary workstations, changing production lines, pilot production, and flexible clean area upgrades.
Wheel-mounted booth structure
Easier repositioning inside the production hall
Suitable for temporary or changing clean work areas
Reduced dependence on fixed construction
3. Transparent PVC Softwall Enclosure
Transparent PVC curtains form the clean booth enclosure. This design provides local separation from the surrounding factory while allowing supervisors to observe the work process from outside.
Clear PVC softwall curtain system
Good visibility for process supervision
Practical access for operators and materials
Flexible enclosure compared with hardwall cleanroom construction
4. FFU And HEPA Filtration System
Top-mounted FFU units with HEPA filters supply clean air into the portable clean booths. The FFU quantity and layout can be adjusted according to the booth size, target cleanliness level, and process sensitivity.
Top-mounted FFU units
HEPA filter clean air supply
Configurable according to booth size and cleanliness requirement
Independent clean air control for each portable booth
5. LED Lighting System
Bright LED lighting was installed inside each booth to support inspection, repair, assembly, and material preparation. The lighting layout keeps the booth interior clear and comfortable for operators.
Integrated LED lighting inside the booth
Bright working environment for detailed operation
Reduced shadows on work surfaces
Suitable for inspection and small-part handling
6. Clean Workstation System
The booths were equipped with stainless steel worktables, inspection lamps, microscope stations, chairs, trays, and tools. Each booth was kept open and uncluttered so operators could work comfortably.
Stainless steel worktables
Inspection lamps and microscope stations
Organized trays and small tools
Practical layout for assembly, inspection, and repair work
7. Material Handling And Storage System
Wire shelving carts, blue bins, black trays, and rolling racks were used for material staging around and inside the booths. This supports flexible movement of components, tools, and finished parts.
Wire shelving carts on casters
Blue storage bins and black trays
Rolling racks for material transfer
Open aisle planning for carts and operators
8. Multi-Booth Row Layout
The project includes multiple portable clean booths arranged in rows. This layout allows the client to use different booths for different tasks while keeping the factory floor flexible for future changes.
5 portable booths arranged in multiple work zones
Separate booths for inspection, assembly, repair, and staging
Clear aisle space between booth rows and factory equipment
Flexible relocation when production layout changes
Problems Solved for the Client

| Full cleanroom construction was not suitable for the factory | Local portable clean booths were used instead of a large fixed cleanroom | Lower construction impact and better factory flexibility |
| Several processes needed separate clean zones | 5 portable booths were arranged in different work zones | Better process separation and cleaner workstation management |
| Material movement needed to stay flexible | Wire carts, rolling racks, bins, trays, and open aisle planning were included | Smoother material transfer and less booth congestion |
| Operators needed bright and practical clean workstations | LED lighting, stainless tables, inspection lamps, and microscope stations were arranged | Better visibility and more efficient daily operation |
Project Result
After completion, the client received 5 portable clean booths with a total clean booth area of approximately 110–130㎡. The booths provide flexible local clean environments for precision inspection, small-part assembly, repair work, material staging, and temporary clean workstation use.
The project improved local particle control without requiring full cleanroom construction. Each booth has its own aluminum frame, transparent PVC enclosure, FFU and HEPA filtration system, LED lighting, worktable, storage layout, and caster wheel base.
The final layout keeps the factory bright, open, and practical. The client can use each booth independently, arrange booths in rows, or adjust their positions according to future production changes.
